Work Begins on Statoil HQ.
Construction work started today on Norwegian multinational oil and gas company Statoil's new operations centre and head office for development and production activities on the UK Contintental Shelf.
Located on the Prime Four business park at Kingswells west of Aberdeen, the 60,000 square foot facility is being built to Statoil's specifications by park developers Drum Property Group. It is expected to be operational in early 2016 and will house more than 200 staff.
“This is an important milestone for Statoil in Aberdeen,” said Gunnar Breivik, Managing Director for Statoil Production UK.
“This new building will be the operations centre for the Mariner field, which is currently under development, and hopefully for several other fields in the future. We wish Drum and its contractors the best of luck for a safe and efficient construction, and we are looking forward to settling in at Prime Four business park,” Breivik said.
Mariner is the largest new offshore development in the UK in more than a decade. Statoil expects to start production from Mariner in 2017 and will be investing more than $7 billion in the project over the 30 year life of the field.
Statoil is part of the second phase of Prime Four's development. Other tenants in this phase include major operator Premier Oil,which relocated from the city centre earlier this week; Village Urban Resort, which has now opened a flagship hotel complex on the park; OneSubsea (jointly owned by Cameron and Schlumberger) and accountancyfirm Anderson Anderson Brown.
Social amenities in phase 2 which are now operational include the Fourcourt plaza, designed to be the park’s social hub and comprising a multi use sports pitch, cafe bar and restaurant and takeaway delicatessen. In addition, pre-school childcare is also being introduced to the park in this phase with Kingswellies Nursery currently under construction and set to open in February next year.
