The final office complex in an award-winning city centre regeneration project
Drum secured a revised planning consent for the final piece of the Buchanan Wharf site in May 2021, a 75,000 sq.ft. NIA office HQ located directly on the banks of the Clyde, adjacent to the King George V Bridge, and a short walk from Central Station.
Drum then agreed a 20-year lease with the Student Loans Company (SLC) for a 75,000 sq. ft. headquarter office housing up to 1100 staff.
The build has subsequently been forward-funded by Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), cementing the ongoing and strong relationship with Drum.
Embodied carbon and operational energy have been at the forefront of the design ethos for the new HQ and the new building’s design and Net Zero Carbon credentials has allowed Drum to secure what is believed to be a record yield for an office in Scotland and provided LGIM with another regional government office for its portfolio.
With construction of the SLC building completing in May 2023, the £500m Buchanan Wharf development now provides prime Grade A campus office space, residential accommodation and a mix of local amenities and landscaped public spaces, regenerating Tradeston, transforming the city centre of Glasgow, and delivering a development of national significance.
