Regeneration
A new city centre park, community-led arts facility, 586 PBSA bedspaces and a 182 BTR apartments
In early 2024, Drum entered a new joint venture with Glasgow based developed Dawn Developments, to form Glasgow Enlightenment Limited (GEL). The JV aims to complete the Collegelands masterplan in the Calton area of Glasgow.
Initial plans for the final phase of Collegelands were unveiled in March as a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) was lodged with Glasgow City Council.
Named Collegelands Park, the proposed £95m multi-use development will feature a community-led arts facility with event space, café and courtyard, a student residence offering 586 bedspaces and a BTR (Build to Rent) block of 182 apartments on the five-acre site, which borders Duke Street and High Street.
At the heart of the new neighbourhood, a short walk from the city centre and Strathclyde University, will be a two and a half acre park, the first to be created in the city in many years. It will feature orchard and blossom trees and community growing areas and will provide a new set of lungs for the city, helping to improve air quality and public health.
The development will mark the completion of the 20-year long Collegelands masterplan to regenerate the Calton area of the city and will act as a catalyst for further development in the area.
A formal planning application will be lodged with Glasgow City Council in the summer following the consultation period.
The Collegelands regeneration project was launched in 2004 in a bid to bring new homes and opportunities to the Calton area of the city. Today Collegelands is one of Scotland’s most successful mixed use developments with a thriving community, a new Moxy hotel, offices, homes and shops.
